Barbara Tyson

Barbara was born in Sydney, Australia. After studying graphic design her illustration skills were quickly recognised. While still in her twenties she was appointed artistic director for a stable of prestigious Australian magazines. This in time led to the launch of her own graphic design business. In 2001 Barbara decided to dedicate herself to her art on a full time basis. Her quest for new techniques has achieved a high level of critical acclaim.

Barbara Tyson’s artwork captures the essence of the freedom of movement. Both her figurative and landscape pieces use the play of light to freeze a moment in time.

Her artworks can be found in private collections and she is looking to have her Archibald portraits accepted by the National Gallery in Canberra.

Seeing your subject emerge from the painting is amazing. A point arrives when touching the canvas is like touching their soul.”
